At the time, I thought the gesture was super corny, but on every major holiday without fail, my father would give me a greeting card with Black images gracing the cover and a warm message on the inside to let me know he cared.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThese cards weren’t available at big-box retailers but sold at Black-owned bookstores throughout Austin, Texas that eventually closed as the years passed and economic downturns took their toll. I never forgot how these cards made me feel – Loved, Seen, and Understood.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eAfter becoming a mother, I had a burning desire to create these same memories with my son, but Black greeting cards were hard to come by. As an artist, I decided it was time to fill that void and create a paper goods line.
